FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What will happen on my first visit?
Your first visit to our office is generally for a complete periodontal examination and consultation. Dr. Georgeu will examine your gums and teeth and review any x-rays or notes from your referring dentist. Dr. Georgeu will then discuss the findings of his examination and present his treatment recommendations. You will have the opportunity to review Dr. Georgeu’s recommendations and ask any questions. Finally, our financial coordinator will answer any questions about fees and dental insurance
Does periodontal treatment hurt?
You will be completely numb for any root planning or periodontal surgical procedures so you will feel no discomfort at all. Dr. Georgeu uses local anesthesia to numb the area so you can drive yourself for treatment. After treatment, the affected area may be slightly sore or tender but most patients feel only minimal discomfort. You should be able to resume your normal routine immediately after surgery. Pain medication is available if needed but most patients do fine with Advil or Tylenol.
Do you accept my dental insurance?
Dr. Georgeu is a provider for all Delta Dental plans including Delta Dental of Rhode Island and Delta Dental of Massachusetts. Likewise, Dr. Georgeu is also a provider for all Blue Cross plans, including Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Dr. Georgeu accepts most other major dental insurance plans.
Do you have to be referred to Dr. Georgeu by a dentist?
Although many dentists refer patients to Dr. Georgeu, he also has many other patients that were referred by family members and friends of existing patients.

For Patients with Dental Insurance
Dental insurance is a great benefit and helps many patients afford dental care. Our business staff will strive to help you obtain your maximum benefits by prompt and efficient processing of your claims. We will submit a pre-treatment estimate to your insurance carrier to obtain an approximation of your benefits for a particular treatment or procedure. The amount not covered by insurance, known as the co-pay, is payable at the time of treatment. The co-pay may be subject to change based on deductibles, yearly limits, treatment undergone in another office, etc.
If your insurance company rejects a claim and refuses to pay for a service, it is not a reflection of how important the service is. It is based on a master contract drawn up between your employer and the insurance company.
